Summary

BIAA Study Grants of up to £2,000

Support is intended for researchers to carry out periods of study abroad in the fields of the arts, humanities and the social sciences. Projects should be related to and/or undertaken in Türkiye and the Black Sea region, and should fit within one of the Strategic Research Initiatives currently sponsored by the Institute.

Eligibility

Researchers across the entire career spectrum (from postdoctoral fellows to senior academics) of any nationality working in the UK or abroad for a UK Higher Education Institution, as well as researchers directing projects that are formally and demonstrably based in the UK, are eligible to apply for a BIAA Study Grant. Projects should be located within the field of the arts, humanities and the social sciences, and should be related to and/or undertaken in Türkiye and the Black Sea region.

Please note that all applicants for research grants who require a letter of support from the BIAA to submit to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism with their permit application at the end of December, and those who need to be named in a support letter from the BIAA to the Ministry, must respond to this call.  All other applicants should apply for the April deadline (to be announced in early 2023).

Application process

It is essential that applicants read these notes and the accompanying conditions of awards before completing the application form.

The deadline for receipt of the application form, budget and reference is 3rd November 2022 at 23:59. The BIAA Research Committee will consider all applications received before this date. Research funded by the Institute under this call for applications must be undertaken in the period between May 2023 and March 2024.
