BIAA Large Research Grants of up to £20,000
Support is intended for primary Directors of large-scale research projects that address one or more of the Institute’s current Strategic Research Initiatives. Proposals may relate to all historical periods up to and including contemporary Turkey.
Project Directors of any nationality working in the UK or abroad for a UK Higher Education Institution, as well as researchers directing projects that are based formally and demonstrably in the UK, are eligible to apply for a BIAA Research Grant of up to £20,000 to support large-scale fieldwork projects. Projects should be located within the field of the arts, humanities and the social sciences and should be related to and/or undertaken in Turkey and the Black Sea region.
Applicants in any doubt about their eligibility or any other aspect of their application are advised to contact the Institute’s London manager via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that all applicants for research grants who require a letter of support from the BIAA to submit to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism with their permit application at the end of December, and those who need to be named in a support letter from the BIAA to the Ministry, must respond to this call. All other applicants should apply for the April deadline (to be announced in early 2023).
It is essential that applicants read the notes for applicants and the accompanying conditions of awards before completing the application form. Please note we offer a limited number of Large Research Grants, which are highly competitive and intended for fieldwork.
The deadline for receipt of the application form, budget and references is 3rd November 2022 at 23:59. The BIAA Research Committee will consider all applications received before this date. Research funded by the Institute under this call for applications must be undertaken in the period between May 2023 and March 2024.
