Grant assessment is a valuable part of the BIAA Research Grant process and critical to the successful outcome of projects across Türkiye and the Black Sea region.
We are interested in prospective grant assessors from various academic backgrounds with a focus on Türkiye and/or the Black Sea region. Assessors would have established expertise in one or more of (but not limited to) the following disciplines:
Availability
BIAA Research Committee assesses research grant applications annually, in November of each year. Once assessors have agreed to undertake the review, we would ask them to have time to carry out the assessment in the four weeks prior to the Research Committee meetings. There would be a two-week turnaround for your assessment.
What to expect
Each grant assessor must commit to providing objective, constructive, detailed, and timely written assessments for each application, along with an overall numerical score. The reviews will be anonymised. Along with the proposal’s referees, these assessments will be used to recommend applications for funding.
It is expected that integrity, confidentiality and anonymity will guide your grant assessments for the BIAA. You will also ensure that there is no conflict of interest.
Prior experience reviewing or approving research grant applications would be an advantage, but is not a requirement.
Please note that BIAA Grant Assessors are voluntary, and the role is unremunerated.
Please express your interest in becoming a BIAA grant assessor by completing the form below.
