BIAA Large Research Grants of up to £10,000
Support is intended for postdoctoral level researchers that address one or more of the Institute’s current Strategic Research Initiatives. Proposals may relate to all historical periods up to and including contemporary Türkiye.
Please note that BIAA has streamlined its grant giving processes and there will only be one call per financial year. If you would like to apply for BIAA grant funding in 2024/25, please respond to this call. Applicants are also advised to carefully review the Notes to Applicants as these have recently changed.
Postdoctoral level researchers of any nationality working in the UK or abroad for a UK Higher Education Institution or a UK based research organisation, are eligible to apply for a BIAA Research Grant of up to £10,000 to support large-scale fieldwork projects. Projects should be located within the fields of the arts, humanities and the social sciences and should be related to and/or undertaken in Türkiye and the Black Sea region.

Please read the notes for applicants and the accompanying conditions of awards before completing an application. Please note we offer a limited number of Large Research Grants, which are highly competitive and intended for fieldwork.
The deadline for receipt of the application form, budget and references is 29th October 2023 at 23:59. The BIAA Research Committee will not consider any applications received after this. Research funded by the Institute under this award scheme must be undertaken in the period between April 2024 and March 2025.
