Eligibility Summary

The Fellow will be located at the BIAA premises in Ankara. He/she will be involved in subsequent publication of research outputs. It is anticipated that the Fellow will also contribute to different aspects of the project including the assimilation of existing data and the dissemination of research outputs. Fluency in English will be essential for this role. 

Applications must be supported by two referees. References should be provided on the headed paper of the referees’ home institution or within an email which clearly indicates the position and institution of the referee. Note that you are responsible for ensuring that your referees submit their references before the provisional interview date below – the Institute will not contact referees. References will only be accepted electronically. Lack of references will disadvantage an application. Please note that your nominated referees must not be members of the BIAA Research Committee or BIAA staff members.

Call for a six-month Social Science Postdoctoral Fellowship: Long-term environmental change and modern water security in Turkey, a collaboration between the University of Plymouth (UK) and the British Institute at Ankara (BIAA)

The Plymouth University GCRF project, ‘Water security in the agricultural landscapes of Turkey: towards improving the resilience of communities and socio-ecological systems’ and the British Institute at Ankara (BIAA) invite applications for a six-month Postdoctoral Fellowship to support research related to environmental change and water security in Turkey.

The Fellow will work alongside Dr Lutgarde Vandeput (BIAA Director), Dr Jessie Woodbridge (PI, GCRF project, University of Plymouth, UK), Dr Mehmet Şeremet (Van Yuzuncu Yil University) and Dr Çetin Şenkul (Anatolia Quaternary Research Centre, Isparta University, Turkey). The work will involve carrying out social science research (interviews, focus groups, etc.) both remotely and within towns near to lakes where environmental research is taking place. The GCRF project, of which the Postdoctoral Fellowship forms a part, focuses on socio-ecological resilience to water resource challenges in the Konya Plain, Turkey.
