17/03/2020 30/04/2020 Post-doctoral Fellowship: water management (six months)

The BIAA is inviting applications for a six-month Postdoctoral Fellowship to focus on research related to water management in Turkey, preferably from a social sciences perspective and with a focus on contemporary aspects.

Over the years, the BIAA has supported a number of water management-related initiatives, mostly in connection with archaeological fieldwork projects. These mainly dealt with practices and solutions from the past. Currently, Turkey is facing important challenges when it comes to water management, ranging from decreasing amounts of precipitation to depletion of natural water resources and growing urban centres necessitating a much increased – and increasing – need for water especially in new development areas built from scratch. Both rural and urban areas are affected, and adaptations will be necessary due to climate change.

Basic knowledge of database building, good command of Excel, basic to moderate skills in image and video processing and good communication skills are essential criteria for this post. Applicants must be normally resident in the UK and must have a demonstrable connection with a UK academic institution.
