The BIAA is delighted to announce that the papers from the fourth meeting of From Enemies to Allies, held at the end of September 2019, have been published as a special number of Middle Eastern Studies 56.5 (2020) entitled 'Britain, Turkey and Nato, 1945-1960', edited by Professor William Hale (SOAS and BIAA Council Member).
There are articles by Professors Dilek Barlas and Şuhnaz Yılmaz (Koç University),  Dr Seçkin Barış Gülmez (Izmir Barış Çelebi University), Professor Ekavi Athanassopoulou (Athens University), Dr John Kent (London School of Economics), and Professor Robert Holland (King's College London).
A short account of the meeting itself by Professor Stephen Mitchell, has appeared in Heritage Turkey 9 (2019), 20-22. The papers from the third meeting are due to appear before long as a special number of the Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies. Many thanks to all concerned who have made such a success of the meetings and the publications.

This marks the end of the BIAA's first project concerned with the history of the Turkish Republican Period. It has enabled the Institute to set up many new relationships with
political scientists in the UK, Turkey and other countries and we hope that these can be developed by further work on this period, and on British Turkish diplomatic relations.
