Following the foundation of the BIAA in 1947, the library started to form an archaeological collection that expanded its scope throughout the years. The library houses a large collection of works on archaeology and associated subjects in Türkiye and the Black Sea, including a broad range of monographs and an exceptional collection of periodicals which cover all archaeological and historical periods. A multidisciplinary collection of archaeological studies that strives to cover a broad time range from Prehistory to the Ottoman Period. Within this large scope there is a further focus on collecting materials on excavations, epigraphy, numismatics, pottery and art history as they relate to the borders of the Republic of Türkiye.
