Support is intended for researchers who address one or more of the Institute’s current Strategic Research Initiatives.
PhD-holding researchers of any nationality working in the UK or abroad for a UK Higher Education Institution or a UK based research organisation are eligible to apply for a BIAA Large Research Grant of up to £10,000 to support large-scale fieldwork projects. Projects should be located within the fields of the arts, humanities and the social sciences and should be related to and/or undertaken in Türkiye and the Black Sea region.

Applications must include two referees, using the BIAA Reference Form.
The deadline for receipt of the application form, budget and references is 1st November 2026 at 23:59 (UK time). The BIAA Research Committee will not consider any applications received after this. Research funded by the Institute under this award scheme must be undertaken in the period between 1st April 2027 and 31st March 2028.
