On 8th January 2022, BIAA Director Dr Lutgarde Vandeput received an Honorary MBE for services to UK/Turkey cultural relations from HMA Sir Dominick Chilcott KCMG.
The investiture took place at the residence of the British Ambassador in Ankara, and was attended by guests including Colonel James Heardman – Military Attaché of the British Embassy, Belgian Ambassador Mr Paul Huynen, former BIAA Chair Professor Stephen Mitchel FBA, as well as Dr Vandeput’s family, friends and colleagues from the BIAA.
After the ceremony, a lunch took place at the BIAA for all attendees as well as staff and Fellows of the Institute.
On her award, Dr Vandeput said: ‘I was delighted to receive this award for services to UK/Turkey cultural relations, as it recognises the important role the BIAA plays in fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between countries’.
