The Institute houses a substantial collection of archaeological records, including notes, notebooks, drawings, and other documentation produced during BIAA archaeological excavations and surveys. The largest groups of material derive from the excavations at Tille Höyük, Aşvan Kale, Beycesultan, Taşkun Kale, and Can Hasan, as well as from other excavations and survey projects.
The archive also contains collections associated with individual scholars, including John Garstang, David H. French, Stephen Mitchell, Alan Hall, Seton Lloyd, Michael Ballance, Ian Todd, and Geoffrey D. Summers. The holdings include object drawings, architectural and site plans, survey maps, field notebooks, and other excavation and survey records.
In addition to the archaeological documents, the Institute also holds a growing collection related to Ottoman and Contemporary Turkish Studies. These collections relate specifically to the Population Exchange (Mübadele) of 1923 and Italian Turkish relations from the early Republican period.
