Nurdan Atalan Çayırezmez

Nurdan Atalan Çayırezmez is a Near Eastern Archaeologist currently pursuing a Ph.D. on Information and Records Management at Ankara University. She holds an Ms Degree from Settlement Archaeology at Middle East Technical University. She worked in different archaeological sites in Turkey. She has an expertise in using remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and applied her skills in GIS for landscape archaeology as Archaeologist and Project Assistant at Kerkenes Project in Yozgat and Ankara, Turkey between 2000 and 2004. Her experiences of synergy between classical methods of archaeology and information technologies have been highly influential on her professional work in Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Her expertise thesis for her tenure at Ministry of Culture and Tourism was about implementation of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology at museums, where she initiated and coordinated Museum National Inventory System (MNIS). She later became the Project Manager of the System. She joined the BIAA as Digital Repository Manager at the beginning of November 2018.

Fields of expertise: Digital Cultural Heritage, Remote Sensing and GIS, Digital Collection Management at GLAM, Digital Humanities, RFID Technology.
