Michael and Mary Gough conducted a survey at Ayaş (in Mersin Province) in 1952 and 1953.  They were successful in creating plans of the Christian church with its mosaic floor, as well as in recording inscriptions and conducting minor excavations.

Seton Lloyd and Nuri Gökçe directed survey work at Sultantepe and other sites in Şanlıurfa Province during 1951 and 1952.   Their work at Sultantepe particularly was significant for its contributions to Assyriology, especially the discovery of the tablet hoard now known as the ‘Sultantepe Tablets’.

Harran Survey

In 1950 Seton Lloyd and William Brice surveyed Harran and surrounding areas.  In addition to creating a detailed plan of the site and copying inscriptions, they were also successful in locating important sites in the surrounding area.
