Summary: My PhD traces the origins and development of fortified sites and their relationship to rural settlements in the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. It aims to contribute to our understanding of Armenian fortifications within the wider context of rural and urban landscape development in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
