Location: Elbistan; Kahramanmaraş Province
Years: 1962
Project Director: Gavin Brown
Summary:
Between July and November 1962 Gavin Brown, Institute Joint Scholar, undertook a study of early pottery in the region within Kayseri, Maraş and Malatya. As part of this, he also conducted a field survey of the Elbistan plain and Bünyan-Pınarbaşı. His findings (which included no Cilician imports at any stage) seemed to confirm that a cultural boundary, defined by the Taurus mountains, ran across Anatolia.
