The British International Research Institutes (BIRI) are pleased to announce that henceforth, British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships, Mid-Career Fellowships and Senior Research Fellowships may include time spent at a BIRI institution. Details of the grant schemes may be found at http://www.britac.ac.uk/funding-opportunities.
The BIRI network includes the British School at Athens, British School at Rome, British Institute in Eastern Africa, British Institute of Persian Studies, British Institute at Ankara and the Council for British Research in the Levant; see http://www.britac.ac.uk/british-international-research-institutes for further details.
The primary base may be in a University or at the BIRI institute. In the event that the primary base is a University, there should be specific arrangements for the award-holder to spend regular periods of time during the Fellowship in association with the BIRI Institute.
The institutions involved would need to agree a cost-sharing package to cover direct and indirect costs; the total cost should not exceed the normal total for the grant.
Candidates or institutions wishing to discuss the possibility of connecting a Fellowship with one of the prestigious organisations within the BIRI network should contact the relevant Director.
