Strategic Research Initiatives

Since 2005 the Institute has supported a small number of thematically focused research programmes, stimulated by current concerns of academic research in the UK as well as internationally; these are known as strategic research initiatives. Each initiative consists of two or more inter-locking partner projects. Within each strategic initiative, BIAA may provide funding on two levels. Firstly, a base level of funding may be provided for partner projects (to be applied for, assessed and evaluated on an annual basis). Secondly, funding may be provided for interaction between the projects of each strategic research initiative and for outreach/dissemination activities relating to the initiative as a whole. Facilitation services are available to both BIAA and non-BIAA funded projects within the strategic research initiatives.
