14 May 2015 14:00 to 21:00
Held in London on May 14, 2015
An one-day roundtable/workshop inspired by the need to take stock of the state of play in the field of Turkish studies in the UK in the humanities and social sciences. The aim of the meeting was to facilitate an informal exchange among British-based scholars associated with different institutions and disciplines in the Social Sciences and the Humanities in order to identify the community's academic needs and to brainstorm about possible modes of networking and organization. The invited speakers kicked off the discussion by introducing the state of play in their respective fields and gave brief presentations ex officio: as members of already existing networks and associations working on Turkish studies, co-ordinators of centres such as the ones in Oxford or the LSE, or scholars representing specific disciplines. The roundtable functioned as a working group to develop ideas that can be taken forward into the future.
