Summary | Amidst proliferating interdisciplinary collaborations for the study of borders, Bordered places | Bounded Times introduces a new direction to the on-going creative processes in border studies by forging a dialogue between archaeology-related disciplines and socio-political sciences. The chapters of the book are revised and expanded versions of selected papers presented at the workshop ‘Bordered Places | Bounded Times. Reflexive approaches to Understanding Societies’ (3-4 June 2013, Ankara) organised by the British Institute at Ankara in collaboration with Middle East Technical University. Through its cross-disciplinary perspective, the book juxtaposes a wide variety of approaches to the study of borders. It explores similarities and differences in the way research questions and hypotheses are framed through radically different access to material and access to radically different sources from prehistory until today. The book was published as part of the BIAA monograph series in May 2017.
